Legend:
- Jesus was God in the flesh
- Jesus was just a man
Discussion:
- John chapter 1 states that Jesus was the Word and the Word "was God".
- Jesus is delcared as making the worlds, able to forgive us of sins, and is called God by God the father in Hebrews Chapter 1.
- Colossions 1 says all things were created through Jesus and for Him. Also that he before all things.
- Romans 10:13 quotes Joel 2:32 which says "Whoever call on the name of the LORD shall be saved". However in Romans they are referencing Jesus and so in effect equating Him with God.
- 1 cor 8:6 says "Yet for us there is on God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we for Him; and one Lord Jesus christ, through whom are all things, and throu whome we live. Clearly there is a distinction between the two. They are not the same.
- This would not be an issue for a Trinity view. In this view God and Jesus are eternally distinct beings. However, They are God.
Oneness - One God, One Person
Tritheism - Three Gods, Three Persons
Trinity - One God, Three Persons. In other words there is 1 God that exists as 3 externally distinct persons.
