Legend:
- The earth is young
- The earth is very old
Discussion:
- The work for day, "yom", could mean a period of time
- When ever the word yom is used with the words morning or evening or with a number in the bible, it always means a literal 24-hour day. In genesis 1 the word day is used with a number and has both the words morning and evening. It's pretty clear the writers intended to convey a 24 hour period
- We shouldn't limit God. God is timeless and a day with him could have been any length
- Several years later in Exodus God spoke to moses saying "For in six days God made the word". By this time the concept of a day would have been understood by Moses to mean a 24-hour period. Otherwise he would have told him in 6 millenia he created the world
- We are not putting a limit on God. We believe could have created the world in a second or billions of years if he wanted. We are only saying He told us it was only 6 days.

- The gensis account is backwards from the scientific account.
In Genesis the plants were created before the sun. The plants would of have had to of gone billions of years without sun. It just doesn't make sense.
Bird were created before reptiles while the evolutionary tree shows that Birds came after reptiles.
Bees polinate wern't there till day 6
Most spectatcular is light created before the sun. If you put years of eons for the days in Gensis 1 the creation couldn't of happened.
- The bible says God created humans "at the beginning". So... if we trace the bible geneologies back we get a date 6-7 thousand years old.
- What Begining? This could just be a reference to the beginning of man or when man recieve a spirit. Why does it have to be the beginning of creation? You would agree he created other things before them.
- I belive he created them at the beginning of creation, because it says in Mark 10:6 "...At the beginning of creation God 'made them male and female.'" Then he goes on talking about divorce and it's clear with the context, he is referring to man.

- You can not put death and bloodshed before Adam. Romans 5:12 says Sin entered through one man an death is a result of sin
- Ok, but there could have been other people who evolved into humans. he was not nessiciairly the first man
- 1 cor 15:45 says Adam was the first man and Gen 3:20, Eve was the mother of all living
- 1 cor 15:45 says Adam was the first man and Gen 3:20, Eve was the mother of all living
- Genesis 1:31 says everything was good. Were Adam and Eve standing on top of dead things

- Genesis 1:2 says the world was without form and void. God doesn't make anything void so there must have been a gap of time between Gen 1:1 and Gen 1:2
- Not so. A house that is being built is without form and void of anyont living, but it is not destroyed. The hebrew word "tohu waw bohu" means unformed and unfilled. It does not mean destroyed.

- We were created from dust (Gen 2:7). Not from an Ape
- Dust is a metaphor and should not be taken literally
- So when it says in Gen 3:19 that we will return to dust, it means we will return to apes? This is absurd

- Why was Adam told to "replenish" the earth in Genesis if the world was being created for the first time?
- Replenish did not mean to fill again until around 1650. When the King James was written it just meant to fill. The hebrew word it male, which just means to fill. Shana means to fill again.

- Science shows us the the world is old and we should believe it because of this.
- Col 2:8 tells us to "Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ." You really need to check into this "science". There are many who claim science shows a young earth. But this needs to be a different topic, because we are looking for what the bible has to say, as it is the ultimate truth.
